What gave me the idea to ask this? It started with an internet posting about when science writing is “good enough.” The posting and the responses dealt mainly with grammar and language in regulatory documents. It seemed everyone agreed that accuracy in presenting and interpreting the data and clarity in discussing its significance are what really count. About writing, one can also ask the question “good enough for what?” My answer is, “good enough so that your chosen audience understands and accepts what you are telling them.”
